Donal O’Connell, CEO of Chawton Innovation Limited who will talk on “Management of trade secrets and their risks in commercial exploitation”. Donal is an experienced IP consultant specialising in innovation and IP management. A graduate in Electronic Engineering from NIHE Limerick (now The University of Limerick), he followed a career in the electronics and wireless telecoms industry, working for periods in The Netherlands, UK, USA, Finland, and Hong Kong. This included work with Philips and Nokia in senior technical and managerial positions, including Vice President of R&D, and then Director of IP at Nokia.
He is an Adjunct Professor at Imperial College Business School in London, teaching about ‘IP management’, and has written several books and numerous papers on aspects of innovation and IP. He is also founder of Chawton Innovation Services which provides a range of IP consulting services and specialist IP software solutions for SMEs, Law & IP Firms. In 2015 he joined the virtual law firm K2, the innovative network of IP professionals supported by Keltie LLP.
Ian Rosam, CEO of HPO Risk Solutions Limited who will talk on “IP risk management and advanced systems”. Ian is an experienced risk, compliance and performance management consultant. Using best practice Enterprise Risk Management (ERM) combined with system thinking he has created a unique method for measuring culture, exposing emergent risk to business outcomes and compliance. In effect making visible what is often invisible. The method uses block chain technology and whilst delivered in different sectors Ian will be speaking on Intellectual Property Risk Management including the measurement of culture aimed at optimising IP exploitation.
Ian’s background is in banking having been involved in compliance, training and business operations. He has developed and managed a regulatory body and represented the UK in organic and mechanistic thinking relating to International Standards.
After we have heard from the two speakers we will have plenty of time for questions from the floor and discussion, followed by the usual opportunity to follow up the conversation with the speakers and other IPAN members over a glass of wine in out networking session.
